Futures Mostly Down Pre-Bell as Traders Await Fresh Market Catalysts; Asia Up, Europe Churns

07:26 AM EDT, 09/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The main US stock measures were mostly pointing lower in Wednesday's premarket activity as investors await fresh market catalysts and gauge the impact of the Federal Reserve's rate cut.

The S&P 500 futures edged down 0.1% and the Nasdaq was off 0.3% before the opening bell, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was slightly in the green. The majority of Asian exchanges were trending upwards, while European bourses were mixed to lower.

On the economic calendar, the weekly mortgage applications bulletin is out at 7 am ET, followed by the new home sales report for August at 10 am. The weekly domestic petroleum inventories report posts at 10:30 am, while the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Survey of Business Uncertainty for September is due at 11 am.

Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler is scheduled to speak at 4 pm.

Cintas ( CTAS ) is set to report its latest financial results before the bell, among others. Micron Technology ( MU ) , Jefferies Financial Group ( JEF ) , H. B. Fuller ( FUL ) and Concentrix ( CNXC ) post earnings after markets close.

Shares of KB Home ( KBH ) dropped 6.6% pre-bell as the homebuilder's fiscal third-quarter earnings fell short of market estimates. Nvidia ( NVDA ) was down 0.4% after closing Tuesday's session with a nearly 4% increase. Visa (V) rebounded 0.3% after declining 5.5% at the close of Tuesday.

Before the bell, bitcoin decreased 0.6% to $63,613, West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 0.8% to $71 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries inclined 2 basis points to 3.76% and gold ticked up 0.2% to $2,681 an ounce.
