MOSCOW, Aug 27 (Reuters) - The rouble made slight gains
against the dollar on Wednesday ahead of month-end tax payments
that support the Russian currency.
At 1030 GMT, the rouble was up 0.12% at 80.4 against
the dollar, according to data compiled by LSEG based on
over-the-counter quotes. The rouble closed Tuesday's session at
80.49, notching up 0.25% over the day's trade.
The rouble was 0.17% stronger at 11.21 against China's yuan,
the most traded foreign currency in Russia.
The Russian currency has received support this week ahead of
a single tax payment Russian corporations will make on August
28, in which exporters usually sell their foreign currency
earnings to meet local liabilities.
Brent crude oil, a global benchmark for Russia's
main export, was down 0.15% at $67.12 per barrel as investors
watched for fresh developments in the Ukraine conflict and
digested the introduction of U.S. tariffs on India.
