Xi Jinping urges more 'political trust' with Turkey in Erdogan meeting

China’s President Xi Jinping met his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, urging "political mutual trust" between the two sides during a regional security meeting in Central Asia.

“The two sides should consolidate political mutual trust, respect each other’s core interests and consolidate the political foundation of China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations,” Xi said, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.

Xi also pushed for more cooperation on his signature Belt and Road global trade initiative, and said the two countries should “contribute to safeguarding international industrial and supply chains, food and energy security”, according to CCTV. (Inputs from AFP)
