Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: From terror attacks to pandemic, here’s what’s ailing island nation’s tourism industry

The last few years have not been kind to Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. A series of hits -- from terror attacks to a pandemic -- have meant that the sector, which used to contribute to a little over 12 percent of the island nation's GDP, has taken a beating. CNBC-TV18 reports that prolonged difficulties have been a major contributor to the current economic crisis, and have hurt players in the heavily unorganized sector.
