Stocks Down Pre-Bell Ahead of Latest Earnings Results; Asia, Europe Churn

07:29 AM EDT, 05/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures were pointing lower before Thursday's opening bell as investors assess the earnings season so far.

The S&P 500 futures and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2% each in the premarket, while the Nasdaq was off 0.3%. Asian and European exchanges were mixed to lower.

Airbnb's ( ABNB ) shares tumbled 8.5% pre-bell after the vacation rental company offered a muted outlook for the second quarter. Arm's (ARM) US-listed shares slipped 8.4% as the British chipmaker offered a downbeat fiscal 2025 revenue forecast at the midpoint. Robinhood Markets ( HOOD ) gained 5.2% while Beyond Meat ( BYND ) fell 13%.

Brookfield (BN), Constellation Energy ( CEG ) , Roblox ( RBLX ) , Warner Bros. Discovery ( WBD ) , Warner Music Group ( WMG ) , Endeavor (EDR), US Foods ( USFD ) , Charles River Laboratories International ( CRL ) , Planet Fitness ( PLNT ) and Yeti (YETI) report their latest financial results before the bell, among others. Akamai Technologies ( AKAM ) and Unity Software ( U ) post earnings in the afterhours.

On the economic calendar, the weekly jobless claims bulletin is out at 8:30 am ET, followed by the weekly EIA domestic natural-gas supplies report at 10:30 am.

Before the open, bitcoin decreased 2.2% to $60,856, West Texas Intermediate crude increased 1% to $79.77 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries rose 2.9 basis points to 4.51% and gold slipped 0.2% to $2,318 an ounce.
