07:44 AM EDT, 08/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures rebounded before the opening bell on Tuesday following steep losses the day before amid growing recession fears.
Standard & Poor's 500 futures gained 0.87%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.67% and Nasdaq futures were up 0.95% in premarket activity. European and Asian exchanges were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 rose over 10% after seeing record volatility on Monday.
Before the open, bitcoin rose about 7% to $55,008, West Texas Intermediate crude oil inched 0.5% higher to $73.31 a barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries rose 6.4 basis points to 3.85% and gold moved 0.41% higher to $2,454 an ounce.
Shares of Palantir Technologies ( PLTR ) rose 10% pre-bell as the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter results and raised its full-year guidance. Lucid Group ( LCID ) rose by nearly 11% after the company posted second-quarter results and said it secured $1.5 billion in funding from its majority stockholder Ayar Third Investment, an affiliate of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. CSX (CSX) was up 1.6% before the bell as the company's Q2 adjusted earnings per share came in higher than expected.
ZoomInfo Technologies ( ZI ) was down 14% as the company's Q2 results missed the Street's estimates. Caterpillar ( CAT ) was up about 4.5% as the heavy machinery company posted better-than-expected Q2 adjusted earnings per share.
Uber Technologies ( UBER ) , Duke Energy ( DUK ) , Marathon Petroleum ( MPC ) , Constellation Energy ( CEG ) , Yum Brands ( YUM ) , Zoetis ( ZTS ) , TransDigm Group ( TDG ) are scheduled to post their quarterly results before the bell, while Amgen ( AMGN ) , Airbnb ( ABNB ) , Suncor Energy ( SU ) , Devon Energy ( DVN ) will post their results after market close, among others.
On the economic calendar, the US goods and services trade deficit data for June is scheduled to be released at 8:30 am.
