Feb 18, 2025 4:29 AM

07:04 AM EST, 02/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures were tracking in the green before Tuesday's opening bell as investors await minutes of the Federal Reserve's last policy meeting later in the week.

Standard & Poor's 500 and the Nasdaq rose 0.4% each in premarket activity while the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.1%. Asian exchanges were mixed to lower, while most European bourses were pointing higher midday on the continent.

The Fed is scheduled to post minutes of its January policy session on Wednesday, which will be parsed for clues on the overall policy posture of the central bank. Tuesday's economic calendar has the Empire State Manufacturing Index for February at 8:30 am ET, followed by the housing market index for the same month at 10 am.

San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly is scheduled to speak at 10:20 am, while Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michael Barr speaks at 1 pm.

Shares of Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) were down 1.5% pre-bell as a regional jet of the company flipped over while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday amid strong winds, according to several media publications. Tesla (TSLA) gained 1.1% while Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) increased 2.4% as the company announced a plan to reduce its workforce by 1,750 mostly corporate and leadership positions.

Medtronic ( MDT ) , Vulcan Materials ( VMC ) , Baidu ( BIDU ) , Intercontinental Hotels Group ( IHG ) , Watsco ( WSO ) , Genuine Parts ( GPC ) , Allegion ( ALLE ) and Chemours ( CC ) report their latest financial results before the bell, among others. Arista Networks ( ANET ) , Cadence Design Systems ( CDNS ) and Occidental Petroleum ( OXY ) post earnings after the markets close.

Before the opening bell, bitcoin ticked down 0.3% to $95,639, West Texas Intermediate crude oil inclined 1.2% to $71.57 per barrel, yields on 10-year Treasuries advanced 3.3 basis points to 4.51% and gold moved 0.8% higher to $2,925 an ounce.
