Gaucho Group ( VINO ) said Wednesday it filed for Chapter 11 reorganization to protect its assets, including Algodon Mansion and Algodon Wine Estates in Argentina, and to ensure continued operations.

Shares retreated 48% as intraday trading volume climbed to more than 220,000, compared with its daily average of roughly 16,000.
