UK Stocks-Factors to watch on August 11
Aug 10, 2026 10:23 PM

Aug 11 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 index is seen opening lower on Tuesday, with futures down 0.05%.

* BP: BP has agreed to sell a 20% stake in a block that contains the Trinidad portion of the cross-border Cocuina-Manakin natural gas field to the country's state-owned National Gas Company, the company said.

* SHELL: One of two compressor stations at the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea is out of service, cutting production to around 60% of capacity until early next year, operator Shell said.

* SPENDING: British consumers spent more on food and in pubs last month on the back of England's run to the World Cup semi-finals and hot weather boosted clothing sales but they remained wary of big outlays, according to surveys.

* RETAIL: Britain's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham will unveil plans to crack down on vape shops, betting outlets and rogue businesses as part of an effort to revive high streets after decades of decline, his office said.

* DROUGHT: Almost three-quarters of England is now in drought, the British government said, highlighting the worsening impact of prolonged dry weather on agriculture, public water supplies and wildlife.

* COMMODITIES: Oil prices steadied, gold rose for a third straight session, and aluminium prices rose for a seventh session.

* FTSE: London's stock indexes eased on Monday, taking a breather after last week's gains, with shares of Imperial Brands ( IMBBF ) dropping on a report of planned job cuts and as investors awaited economic data later in the week.
