02:31 PM EDT, 03/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Hawaiian Electric Industries ( HE ) shares fell more than 3% in recent Friday trading after US lawmakers asked the company to provide additional information about the deadly Maui wildfire last year.
In a letter to Hawaiian Electric Chief Executive Shelee Kimura, leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee said "questions persist" about the August wildfires and the company's wildfire mitigation plan.
The letter said that the Hawaii Public Utility Commission had been unaware about the company's plan prior to the wildfires and only learned about it from the ongoing investigation. They requested a response from the company by April 3.
The company did not immediately reply to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
