IBM Unveils Host of New AI Initiatives Including Open-Source Models, Saudi Partnership, New Nvidia Chips

05:14 AM EDT, 05/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- International Business Machines ( IBM ) said Tuesday it had upgraded its WatsonX AI platform a year after its introduction and was preparing several other AI-connected projects.

Among the new initiatives, the company placed its Granite language and code models into open source and launched InstructLab in partnership with Red Hat to help developers build their own language models. IBM ( IBM ) is launching a service for clients to leverage InstructLab with their own data to train custom AI models.

The company is also expanding its Nvidia (NVDA) graphic processing unit offerings to include the L40S and L4 Tensor Core GPUs.

The tech firm said it had partnered with Saudi Arabia's Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority to launch an Arabic version of Watsonx that comprehends multiple dialects.

It said it was partnering with or exploring partnerships with companies that include Amazon (AMZN) Web Services, Adobe (ADBE), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Salesforce ( CRM ) , and SAP (SAP) to provide data, cloud, and AI services and capabilities.
