07:32 PM EDT, 07/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners and Stonepeak are among companies evaluating bids for Porto Sudeste, a Brazilian iron ore port valued at about $5 billion and owned by Trafigura Group and Mubadala Capital, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
GIP is preparing a joint bid with Vale and Gerdau, while Stonepeak is partnering with Australia's M Resources, the report said. Binding offers are expected by the end of the month, with I Squared Capital also among the bidders.
Porto Sudeste handled a record 27.8 million metric tons of iron ore in 2025, below its roughly 50 million-ton annual capacity. Trafigura and Mubadala acquired a controlling stake in the Rio de Janeiro port in 2014.
