Demand for jobs under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has almost doubled as migrants leave India’s urban centers and return to their villages. States like Uttar Pradesh are reporting a whopping 300 percent jump in demand. New jobs are being created but the demand remains far too high.
