US Equity Markets Close Higher Monday Ahead of Earnings, Fed Meeting This Week

04:10 PM EDT, 04/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity markets ended higher Monday as investors awaited key corporate earnings, including Apple ( AAPL ) , Amazon.com ( AMZN ) and Eli Lilly ( LLY ) , and the Federal Reserve's policy meeting this week.

* The Dallas Federal Reserve's monthly manufacturing reading fell to minus 14.5 in April from minus 14.4 in March, compared with expectations for an increase to a reading of minus 11.3 in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

* June West Texas Intermediate crude oil closed down $1.10 to $82.75 per barrel, while June Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen down $1.02 to $88.48 as the US Secretary of State pushed for the Gaza cease-fire.

* Deciphera Pharmaceuticals ( DCPH ) shares surged past 72% after agreeing to be acquired by ONO Pharmaceutical for $2.4 billion.

* UMB Financial ( UMBF ) agreed to buy Heartland Financial (HTLF) in an all-stock transaction valued at $2 billion. Shares of UMB fell 6.5%, while Heartland jumped more than 15%.

* Domino's Pizza (DPZ) shares were up 5% after reporting higher fiscal Q1 earnings and revenue.
