CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens at record high as jobs data fuels rate cut bets
Sep 5, 2025 7:06 AM

Sept 5 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened at a

record high on Friday after data showed that surprise job loss

in August strengthened investor expectations for a potential

interest-rate cut by the Bank of Canada later this month.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.50% at 29,059.88

points.
