June 6 (Reuters) - Airbus is closing in on a
widebody order from Scandinavia's biggest airline SAS AB, which
includes a mix of the Airbus A330neo and the more advanced A350,
with about 15 to 20 aircraft under consideration, Bloomberg News
reported on Saturday.
The carrier is set to finalise the deal in coming weeks and
will receive the aircraft early in the next decade. The report
added, citing people familiar with the matter.
Airbus and SAS AB did not immediately respond to a request
for comment. Reuters could not verify the report.
The carrier had also been in discussions with Boeing ( BA ) about a
large order of widebody jets but decided to choose the European
planemaker to maintain fleet commonality and keep down costs,
the report added.
SAS AB was one of the first airlines in March to cut a
limited number of flights because of the "sharp and sudden
increase" in fuel prices triggered by the U.S.-Israeli war
against Iran.
