Alphabet's YouTube Says Fox Channels Could Go Dark Over Payment Issue
Aug 26, 2025 4:28 AM

07:09 AM EDT, 08/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube ( GOOG ) said Monday that certain Fox (FOX, FOXA) channels could soon become unavailable on YouTube TV if the parties are unable to reach a new content agreement.

"Fox is asking for payments that are far higher than what partners with comparable content offerings receive," YouTube ( GOOG ) said in a blog post. If the parties are unable to strike a new agreement by 5 pm ET Wednesday, Fox channels, including Fox Sports, Business, and News would become unavailable on YouTube TV, the company said.

YouTube ( GOOG ) said it will provide its members with a $10 credit if Fox content is unavailable for an extended time period.

Fox said it is "disappointed that Google ( GOOG ) continually exploits its outsized influence by proposing terms that are out of step with the marketplace." The company said in a message posted on social media that it is alerting users that they could lose access to content "unless Google ( GOOG ) engages in a meaningful way soon."
