02:29 PM EDT, 09/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) said Thursday it is investing over $2.1 billion into delivery services partner program this year, which will increase the average pay of its delivery drivers by 7% to $22 per hour.
To assist in enhancing the pay and perks for drivers in the delivery service partners, or DSP, program Amazon ( AMZN ) plans to allocate an additional $660 million in the upcoming year for raising the DSP rate card and bonuses.
The company said it expects the investment to assist DSPs in raising the hourly wages of drivers to an average close to $22 across the country, varying by region, marking a 7% rise from the previous year.
Besides investments in rate cards, Amazon ( AMZN ) is introducing a new service from PayActiv that DSPs can provide to their drivers. Through PayActiv, drivers can quickly access up to 50% of their earned wages, eliminating the need to wait for payday, according to the company.
The Wall Street Journal reported the story earlier.
