American Airlines Fire Incident Facing FAA Probe
Mar 14, 2025 7:08 AM

09:42 AM EDT, 03/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday it will investigate the incident involving an American Airlines Group ( AAL ) plane whose engine caught fire at Denver International Airport.

American Airlines ( AAL ) flight 1006, a Boeing ( BA ) 737-800, was en route to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport from Colorado Springs Airport Thursday when the crew reported "engine vibrations," the FAA said. The flight diverted to and landed at Denver at about 5:15 pm local time on Thursday. An engine caught fire while taxiing to the gate, prompting an evacuation, the regulator said.

The airline said all 172 passengers and six crew members deplaned.

"American sent a replacement aircraft and crew to help customers continue to DFW and that flight safely arrived Friday morning," the company said in a statement emailed to MT Newswires.

Bloomberg reported that the National Transportation Safety Board would join the FAA in probing the incident.

The NTSB didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
