American Express Reports August Consumer Card Net Write-Off Rate of 2%

12:30 PM EDT, 09/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Express ( AXP ) said the consumer card net write-off rate was 2% in August, unchanged from July.

The net write-off rate for US small business card loans was unchanged at 2.7%, the company said Monday in a regulatory filing.

The write-off rates are based on principal only, excluding interest or fees.

Total US-based consumer and small business card loans rose to $125.5 billion in August from $124.2 billion in July, the company said.
