May 26, 2025 5:03 AM

08:36 AM EDT, 05/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Americas Gold and Silver ( USAS ) edged down in pre-market New York trade after the company on Friday said its first-quarter adjusted loss widened on lower production and higher costs.

The company, which operates two North American mines, said its adjusted loss, which excludes most one-time items, widened to US$11.5 million, from US$10.5 million in the year-prior quarter. Per share results were not disclosed.

Revenue rose 13% to US$$23.55 million from $20.85 million.

Americas Gold and Silver ( USAS ) said the widened loss came on higher corporate general and administrative costs, which rose to US$6.5 million from US$1.66 million.

"We are in the early stages of the execution on our strategy to scale production and lower costs. During the first 100 days of our efforts involving the new combined team, we have been extremely impressed by the tremendous response of our operations teams to unlock the significant potential across both operating mines," Chief Executive Paul Andre Huet said in a release.

Lower production also added to the loss, with silver output of 446,000 ounces in the quarter, down from 484,000 ounces. The company said its expects production to rise over the course of 2025 as it makes productivity improvements at its mines and begins to access higher-grade ores.

The company's shares were last seen down US$0.006 to US$0.61 premarket. They closed down $0.02 to $0.83 Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
