Amitabh Chaudhry takes charge as MD and CEO of Axis Bank

Former HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company boss Amitabh Chaudhry on Tuesday took charge as MD and CEO of Axis Bank, Shikha Sharma leaving the bank after almost a decade at the helm.

CNBC-TV18's Ritu Singh reports on the key challenges the new MD and CEO will have to steer the country's third-largest private sector lender through.

Chaudhry was in September named the MD and CEO of Axis Bank for a period of three years, with effect from January 1, 2019. Earlier on December 8, Axis Bank had inducted Chaudhry as additional director on its board, three weeks ahead of his taking over as the new managing director and CEO of the private sector lender.
