05:44 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) asked the European Union Wednesday to repeal the Digital Markets Act because the company says the law has negatively impacted user experiences, delayed the roll-out of new features, increased safety threats and reduced choices for consumers.
The law was introduced in 2022 to force tech companies to protect European consumers. But Apple ( AAPL ) said the law is hurting consumers and forcing it to take up draconian measures to meet its requirements.
The company said features, such as live translation, iPhone mirroring, visited places on Maps, have not been rolled out in Europe because engineers have been unable to find ways to make such tools compatible with other platforms, as required by the law, without compromising security.
European users are also facing more security threats and a diminished experience because of the DMA, the company said.
"Despite our concerns with the DMA, teams across Apple ( AAPL ) are spending thousands of hours to bring new features to the European Union while meeting the law's requirements," Apple ( AAPL ) said. "But it's become clear that we can't solve every problem the DMA creates."
The European Commission did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
