08:30 AM EDT, 08/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is no longer allowed to market its Apple Watch as carbon dioxide neutral in Germany after a regional court in Frankfurt granted an injunction against Apple Distribution International, environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe said Tuesday.

The group filed the lawsuit in 2024, accusing Apple ( AAPL ) of misleading consumers with claims that three of its Apple Watch models are CO2-neutral as emissions caused by producing these watches are offset by compensation projects.

The claim was found by the court to be unfounded and in violation of German competition law, according to a Reuters report Tuesday.

DUH Federal Director Jurgen Resch said Apple's ( AAPL ) offsetting projects, including commercial eucalyptus plantations, are limited in duration, lack adequate contractual safeguards, and risk undermining ecological integrity.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
