02:54 PM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is cherry picking quotes from other court cases to justify its bid to have Omni Bridgeway turn over documents related to its financing of a patent case, Omni said in a court filing.

"Even so, Apple's ( AAPL ) bid is futile," Omni Bridgeway, a litigation financier, said in a court filing Monday with the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

Apple ( AAPL ) is seeking documents related to Omni's role in a patent lawsuit brought by MPH Technologies against the tech giant in 2018, alleging Apple ( AAPL ) products violated its patents.

Omni has rejected Apple's ( AAPL ) request on grounds that it is not relevant to the case and requested the court to deny Apple's ( AAPL ) motion. The firm was being asked to turn over documents based on "unfounded speculation that Omni 'should have' or 'likely' engaged in actions" the iPhone maker deems relevant.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
