03:41 AM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) lost a trial on Friday over whether it violated technology company Masimo's ( MASI ) patents in some of its Apple Watch models and was ordered to pay $634 million in damages, news outlets reported Friday.

A California jury concluded that Apple ( AAPL ) infringed on four pulse-oximetry monitoring patents claimed by Masimo ( MASI ) in around 43 million watches sold between 2020 and 2022, according to reports.

Masimo ( MASI ) was seeking damages of between $634 million and $749 million, The Daily Journal reported.. 'This is a significant win in our ongoing efforts to protect our innovations and intellectual property," the company said in a statement.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment. A statement cited by media reports said Apple ( AAPL ) intends to appeal.

"We disagree with today's decision, which we believe is contrary to the facts," Apple ( AAPL ) reportedly said in a statement.
