Apple Terminated Developer Account, Epic Games Says, Signaling 'Serious Violation' of EU Rules
Mar 6, 2024 10:51 AM

01:26 PM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) terminated Epic Games Sweden's developer account, marking a "serious violation" of the EU's Digital Markets Act by stopping a rival store for iOS, the Fortnight maker said Wednesday on its website.

The move shows "Apple ( AAPL ) has no intention of allowing true competition on iOS devices," Epic Games said. "They are undermining our ability to be a viable competitor and they are showing other developers what happens when you try to compete with Apple ( AAPL ) or are critical of their unfair practices."

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Apple ( AAPL ) shares eased 0.1% in recent trading Wednesday.
