Apple to Let Developers Sell Apps Directly From Own Websites to EU Users

09:34 AM EDT, 03/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) said Tuesday it will allow developers to distribute apps in the European Union directly from their websites or from alternative marketplaces, rather than only through the Apple Store.

Web distribution in 27 European Union nations will begin following a software update later this spring.

The company also said that developers can choose how to design promotions and discounts when linking out to payment websites rather than being locked into Apple's ( AAPL ) templates.
