09:09 AM EDT, 06/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Archer-Daniels-Midland ( ADM ) said Thursday it is extending its partnership with Bayer to assess regenerative agriculture practices in Eastern Europe for crops like corn, wheat, and barley.
The agricultural commodities and products producer said the companies assessed the effects of these practices on oilseed rape farms in Poland in 2023. A preliminary evaluation indicated a 15% reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional farms, with the potential for up to 40% reduction for those fully adopting these methods, according to Archer-Daniels-Midland ( ADM ).
As part of the expanded collaboration, participating farmers will receive financial and technical support for implementing regenerative practices such as minimum tillage, cover crops, companion crops, nutrient management, use of organic matter, and crop rotation, the company said.
ADM added that it will pay farmers for each hectare verified by Bayer's digital tools and Trinity Agtech's Sandy platform.
