Astral Q2FY24 results - Net profit jumps 90% to ₹131 crore, misses estimates

PVC pipes and plastic products maker Astral Ltd on Wednesday (October 18) reported a 90% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit at ₹131.2 crore for the second quarter that ended September 30, 2023. In the corresponding quarter last year, Astral posted a net profit of ₹69.1 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing. A CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted a profit of ₹141 crore for the quarter under review.

In the quarter, total revenue stood at ₹1,363 crore during the period under review, up 16.3% against ₹1,172 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal. The CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted revenue of ₹1,362 crore for the quarter under review.

At the operating level, EBITDA increased 53% to ₹220 crore in the second quarter of this fiscal over ₹144 crore in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.

EBITDA margin stood at 16.1 percent in the reporting quarter as compared to 12.3 percent in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. EBITDA is earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation.

The company declared an interim dividend for the financial year 2023-24 at the rate of Rs 1.50 per share of face value of Re 1 each. The Record Date for determining the shareholders entitled to payment of the said interim dividend has been fixed as October 27, 2023.

The results came after the close of the market hours. Shares of Astral Ltd ended at ₹1,956.75, down by ₹10.95, or 0.56 percent on the BSE.
