07:27 PM EDT, 06/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Atlas Air Worldwide is considering an order for Boeing Company's ( BA ) 777X freighter even after placing its first-ever Airbus aircraft order earlier this year, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing CEO Michael Steen.
"We have 777-200 freighters in our fleet, and we are hopefully going to buy some more of those," Steen said in an interview. "I'm absolutely open to a dash eight freighter," he added, referring to the cargo version of Boeing's ( BA ) 777X.
The comments come after Atlas ordered Airbus A350 freighters in March, marking the cargo carrier's first purchase from Boeing's ( BA ) European rival. Atlas' existing fleet consists entirely of Boeing ( BA ) aircraft.
Steen told Bloomberg the company continues to see demand for air cargo services, including shipments of chips and server racks for data centers, despite uncertainty in the aviation industry stemming from higher oil prices.
