09:16 AM EDT, 03/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- AT&T ( T ) has agreed to buy carbon dioxide removal credits from a 1PointFive direct air capture facility that is under construction in Texas, the companies said on Wednesday.
The facility is designed to capture up to 500,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide yearly when fully operational, the companies said.
The captured carbon dioxide underlying AT&T's ( T ) removal credits will be stored through durable saline sequestration, the companies said. The agreement would help AT&T ( T ) achieve its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2035, the companies added.
Financial details of the purchase were not disclosed.
