05:15 PM EDT, 07/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Barrick Mining ( B ) said the Mali government helicopters on Thursday "landed unannounced" at Loulo-Gounkoto and took more than 1 tonne of gold from the mining complex.
The gold is "potentially for sale by the provisional administrator -- though that remains to be seen and the situation is evolving," the company said.
On June 16, the Bamako Tribunal of Commerce placed the mining complex under provisional administration and named Soumana Makadji as provisional administrator, who has since stated his plan to "shortly resume" gold exports from the mining complex, followed by restarting mining operations, Barrick said.
The company said it started international arbitration in December 2024 to "address the violation of [its] legal rights."
