HDFC beat estimates to post a 42% growth in its net at Rs 3180 crore in the fourth quarter. Its PBT rose 46 percent.

All India Bank Employees Association general secretary CH Venkatachalam said a dip in the number of the public sector banks was not in the interest of the banking industry and domestic economy.

"Our revenues from retailing of non-food merchandise have been substantially and adversely impacted. Nevertheless, the business has continued to incur committed expenditures especially with respect to our employees and other expenditures not directly linked to revenues," said Trent in a regulatory filing. The company has initiated various steps to mitigate the impact, it added.

Aluminium prices have moved up nearly 5 percent in the past week. In the last one month, it is up by closed to 12 percent and in this calendar year increased by 25 percent. CNBC-TV18’s Nigel D'Souza gets more details.
