BlackSky Technology Supplies First Gen-3 Satellite to Rocket Lab for Expected Launch in February

09:44 AM EST, 01/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BlackSky Technology ( BKSY/WS ) said Thursday it supplied a Gen-3 satellite to Rocket Lab (RKLB), which is scheduled for launch in February from Rocket Lab's launch facility in Mahia, New Zealand.

According to BlackSky ( BKSY/WS ), the new defense and intelligence satellites will provide automated detection, identification and classification of a large group of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and other objects of tactical interest. They will also feature high-resolution, rapid-revisit 35-centimeter imagery along with artificial intelligence-enabled analytics, it said.

BKSY shares were edging 0.3% lower while RKLB shares were 0.2% higher in early trading.
