07:37 AM EDT, 05/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- In Canada, King Charles III is set to deliver the throne speech on Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, noted Bank of Montreal (BMO).
It will be the first time in almost 50 years that the monarch has read the speech to Canada's parliament, said the bank.
The remarks will likely emphasize Canada's democracy, but could also subtly lay out how Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal minority government plan to achieve seven key priorities, stated BMO.
Meanwhile, on the economic data docket, the bank looks for the advance reading of wholesale trade in April at 8:30 a.m. ET Tuesday. The report may highlight a decline in the headline figure amid heavy headwinds in that month.
BMO recalled that Monday's advance manufacturing sales report showed a 2% month-over-month decline in April.
