07:35 AM EDT, 10/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canada will release the August figures on international securities transactions at 8:30 a.m. ET Friday, said Bank of Montreal (BMO).
As a reference, for July, foreign investors acquired $26.7 billion of Canadian securities, split between debt ($14.8 billion, of which $3.7 billion were bonds and $11.1 billion were money market instruments) and equities ($11.8 billion).
Canadian investors purchased $17.4 bln of foreign securities, which was all debt ($18.4 bln made up of $16.6 bln bonds and $1.8 bln money market instruments). They were net sellers of international equities ($1.0 billion).
The US dollar (USD) is essentially flat (BBDXY -0.01%), with the Canadian dollar (CAD or loonie) a bit firmer (CAD per USD -0.12%) early Friday, pointed out the bank.
