01:29 PM EDT, 05/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) on Tuesday logged lower deliveries and orders for April on both sequential and annual bases, with deliveries falling to the lowest level so far this year.
The plane maker delivered 24 jets last month, including 16 737 Max aircraft, down from a total of 29 deliveries in March and 26 a year earlier, according to data posted on its website. The company booked seven orders in April, down from 113 the previous month and 34 in April 2023.
So far in 2024, Boeing ( BA ) has delivered 107 jets and booked 138 gross orders. As of April 30, it had 6,209 unfilled orders, the data showed.
The company's shares were up 1.2% in Tuesday afternoon trade.
Last month, Boeing ( BA ) logged an unexpectedly narrower first-quarter loss, while revenue declined annually. The company said at the time it reduced output of its 737 program to below 38 planes per month to implement quality management system improvements and ease traveled work within its factory and supply chain.
In January, the US Federal Aviation Administration launched an investigation into Boeing ( BA ) after a 737 Max 9 operated by Alaska Air ( ALK ) suffered a mid-air panel blowout.
Last week, Spirit AeroSystems ( SPR ) said it won't be offering a full-year financial outlook as its acquisition talks with Boeing ( BA ) continued. In March, Spirit AeroSystems ( SPR ) and Boeing ( BA ) confirmed they were engaged in discussions regarding the former's possible acquisition. Spirit AeroSystems ( SPR ) was previously a part of Boeing ( BA ).
Boeing ( BA ) made senior leadership changes in March, including the departure of Dave Calhoun as chief executive at the end of this year.
