12:00 PM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) on Monday announced orders for a total of 85 aircraft, driven by a deal with Dubai-based airline Emirates.
Financial term of the deals, which also include separate agreements with Ethiopian Airlines and Air Senegal, weren't disclosed.
Emirates is buying 65 of Boeing's ( BA ) 777-9 jets to support expansion plans amid growing travel demand, according to a joint statement. The carrier, which already is the largest Boeing 777X customer, previously placed two orders totaling 205 planes.
Ethiopian Airlines has committed to buy 11 of Boeing's ( BA ) 737-8 airplanes. The African carrier operates the largest Boeing ( BA ) fleet in the region and has the largest backlog of 737 Max, 777X and 787 Dreamliner jets on the continent, according to Boeing ( BA ).
Air Senegal is adding nine 737-8 jets to its fleet, which will be its largest-ever purchase and the first Boeing ( BA ) deal since 2004, the companies said in a statement.
Last week, data on Boeing's ( BA ) website showed it booked 15 gross orders in October, down from 63 in October last year and from 96 in the month prior. Rival Airbus reported orders of 112 in October.
Boeing ( BA ) said that demand for wide-body aircraft in the Middle East is expected to reach nearly 3,000 jets over the next 20 years. In Africa, demand is anticipated to exceed 1,200 new airplanes over the next two decades.
Boeing's ( BA ) unfulfilled orders as of the end of October totaled 6,534, while its backlog stood at 5,911.
Aircraft production delays could cost the airline industry more than $11 billion this year, as an aging global fleet requires higher fuel and maintenance expenses, the International Air Transport Association said in a report released in October.
