Boeing seeks EU approval for Spirit deal
Aug 28, 2025 1:57 AM

BRUSSELS (Reuters) -Boeing is seeking EU approval to buy back Spirit AeroSystems, the world's largest standalone aerostructures company, documents on the European Commission website show.

Boeing said in July last year that it had agreed to buy its former subsidiary for $4.7 billion in shares while Airbus would take on the supplier's loss-making Europe-focused activities.

The EU executive body is expected to make its decision on the deal by September 30.

Britain's competition regulator cleared the acquisition this month after deciding against an in-depth investigation into whether the deal would be anti-competitive.
