Brazil brewer Ambev posts higher-than-expected Q1 net profit

May 8 (Reuters) - Brazilian brewer Ambev SA ( ABEV )

reported a higher-than-expected first quarter net profit of 3.80

billion reais ($748.86 million) on Wednesday, down 0.4% from a

year earlier as sales volumes only grew 0.1% over that period.

Analysts had expected a net profit of 3.44 billion reais,

according to Refinitiv data.
