SAO PAULO, March 20 (Reuters) - Brazil secured 501.3
megawatts of electricity on Friday from thermal stations run
through diesel, fuel oil and biodiesel, the deal's results
showed.
* Among the winners, there were two diesel projects from
state-run oil firm Petrobras.
* The contracts have different periods, beginning as soon as
2026 and expiring as far as 2040.
* It was the second auction this week held by the government
to secure back-up power capacity for periods of high demand or
scarce supply.
* On Wednesday, the government held a larger similar auction
focused on hydro power stations, as well as gas and coal thermal
units.
* The government secured 19 gigawatts in the Wednesday
auction, representing the biggest ever power deal of its kind in
Brazil.
