Companies are increasingly committing to their own timelines for reducing their emissions, but many acknowledge that their ability to slow planet-warming CO2 emissions is contingent on faster action from governments.

Sam Bankman Fried stands accused of utilising customer funds to support his own high-risk investments at Alameda Research, a hedge fund he established in 2017. The most recent witness to testify is Gary Wang, FTX's co-founder, who is providing testimony as part of a plea agreement. Wang has revealed in federal court that he engaged in financial misconduct alongside Bankman Fried while at FTX.

Pfizer announced the deal in March, its largest purchase in a string of recent acquisitions thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime cash windfall from its COVID-19 vaccine and treatment.

The sanctions are financial penalties meant to block access to funds held in the U.S. and to prevent the people and entities from doing business with American people and firms.
