Canadian Regulator Advances Probe Into Amazon's Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy
Jul 8, 2025 7:06 AM

09:21 AM EDT, 07/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canada's Competition Bureau has procured a court order to advance its investigation into Amazon.com's ( AMZN ) Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy, which allows Amazon ( AMZN ) to penalize sellers for certain conduct.

The regulator is looking into whether the policy allows the tech giant to charge higher fees to sellers than it otherwise would and whether those sellers then charge higher retail prices to customers.

The bureau is also probing whether Amazon ( AMZN ) is preventing the entry or expansion of rivals by blocking sellers from offering lower prices elsewhere and whether it is lessening price competition among online marketplaces or retail channels.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
