05:54 AM EST, 02/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Century Aluminum ( CENX ) and Cleveland-Cliffs ( CLF ) shares led a pre-bell rise in aluminum and steel stocks Tuesday a day after US President Donald Trump announced new 25% tariffs on metal imports.

Shares of Century Aluminum ( CENX ) were up 3.5% in premarket activity, while Cleveland-Cliffs ( CLF ) rose 3%.

Commercial Metals ( CMC ) advanced 2%, Nucor ( NUE ) was up 1.5%, U.S. Steel (X) edged up 1% ahead of Alcoa ( AA ) , which was up almost 1%.

Shares of ArcelorMittal ( MT ) , based in Luxembourg, were down nearly 2%.
