09:56 AM EDT, 03/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor's ( HMC ) Insight and Passport vehicles from model years 2019 to 2022 of are being investigated over alleged rapid deceleration due to "inadvertent activation of the automatic emergency braking system," according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

About 250,712 vehicles are under preliminary evaluation, which aims to assess potential safety-related issues, the NHTSA said.

The regulator said that the Office of Defects Investigation received 46 complaints alleging that inadvertent braking events happened without warning.

Honda's ( HMC ) North America corporate communications office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
