05:14 AM EDT, 08/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Charter Communications ( CHTR ) said the California Public Utilities Commission approved its merger with Cox California Telcom, subject to consumer, broadband and digital equity conditions, the CPUC said Thursday.
The CPUC's conditions include at least $275 million in California network upgrades, a $30 million investment in digital inclusion initiatives and new affordable broadband offerings for low-income residents.
The post-merger company must provide five years of free broadband and Wi-Fi to 50 eligible community institutions and implement customer protections, including outage credits and continued "price for life" agreements, it added.
