05:50 PM EDT, 07/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A Chesapeake Utilities ( CPK ) subsidiary has been cleared by Florida utilities regulator to build three new production and distribution projects for natural gas infrastructure of its natural gas utility.
Chesapeake unit Peninsula Pipeline is expecting to bring the new facilities online during the first half of 2025. The projects will supply an additional 13,100 dekatherm per day of natural gas into the Florida City Gas network for a combined $46 million capital investment, Chesapeake said Tuesday.
Florida City Gas will link renewable natural gas captured from local landfills in the state's Miami-Dade, Brevard and Indian River counties into its natural gas infrastructure.
The Florida Public Service Commission on Tuesday also approved the transfer of Chesapeake Utilities' ( CPK ) Pioneer Supply Pipeline asset from Florida City Gas to Peninsula Pipeline, better aligning assets and services between the respective units.
