08:04 AM EDT, 03/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) has indicated interest in exploring hydrocarbon at two more offshore blocks off the Greek island of Crete, Greece's Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou said Wednesday.

The ministry accepted the energy giant's expression of interest for the South Crete I and South Crete II areas, it said, adding that it will issue a decision about the acceptance of the interest and further details about the exploration area.

A Chevron ( CVX ) spokesperson confirmed to MT Newswires in an email that the company has "submitted a non-binding expression of interest to Greece's Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (HEREMA) for 3 open blocks."
