Feb 4, 2025 3:20 AM

05:50 AM EST, 02/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- China has Tuesday imposed retaliatory measures, including new tariffs on United States imports including coal, LNG, crude oil, and farm equipment after fresh US tariffs on Chinese goods took effect, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

The new Chinese tariffs, set at 15% for coal and LNG, and 10% for crude oil, farm machinery, and certain vehicles, will take effect on Feb. 10.

In addition, China's State Administration for Market Regulation launched an antitrust investigation into Google ( GOOG ) over suspected violation of the country's anti-monopoly law, multiple media reports said Tuesday.

Additionally, China's Commerce Ministry has reportedly placed PVH (PVH), owner of brands such as Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, and Illumina ( ILMN ) on its "unreliable entity" list, the reports said.

China's Commerce Ministry and its Customs Administration also imposed export controls on critical metals used in electronics and military equipment, media reports said.

Google ( GOOG ), PVH, and Illumina ( ILMN ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
